How to maintain the metal drive wheels of a manual platform trolley

The frame of the manual platform trolley is made of metal materials, and the lightweight stacker boasts strong load-bearing capacity. Typically, these frames can be equipped with metal chain links, chain-type rings, or ring-shaped loops, and generally come in five different specifications. In most general-purpose machinery, plate chains are used; other types serve as power transmission elements for specialized and uniquely designed mechanical equipment. Manual platform trolleys usually employ plate chains. Now, let’s take a closer look at how to properly maintain the metal drive wheels of manual platform trolleys!

The number of transmission gears and the speed ratio of a manual platform trolley determine which chain specification should be selected. If an ultra-low lift platform has been in use for more than six months, it’s important to pay attention to whether the chain shows any signs of damage—such as gaps, bends, or deformations. If the strain angle of a manual hydraulic stacker clearly exceeds 10 degrees, the hydraulic stacker manufacturer recommends replacing the chain to prevent potential risks during later stages of use.

  Regularly check the casters.

Manual platform carts require regular inspections of the supports and fasteners. Tighten any loose axles and nuts, and check whether the welds or support plates show signs of wear. The supports can become distorted due to overload or impact. A distorted support will cause heavy loads to be unevenly distributed across the wheels, leading to premature wheel damage. When installing dry casters, be sure to tighten the nuts securely and ensure they are properly seated without any gaps in the design.

  Lubricating oil

After regularly adding lubricant, the tray casters and movable bearings can be used for a long time. Applying lubricant to the axle, the sealing rings, and the friction points of ball bearings can reduce wear and ensure smooth rotation. Generally, lubrication should be performed every six months. After washing the car each month, the wheels should also be lubricated.

Manual platform cart wheels: Inspect the casters for signs of wear. During use, the wheels may become less smooth in rotation and could be affected by debris such as ropes.

The anti-winding cover can prevent these debris from winding up behind the unit—whether because the casters are too tight or too loose.

Casters for manual platform carts: If the casters feel loose, they need to be replaced with new ones. Additionally, if the caster wheels cannot rotate freely, you should also check whether there are any foreign objects or dirt lodged in the ball bearings of the casters.

The casters on manual platform carts come in PU polyurethane and nylon varieties, each with its own unique characteristics for different applications. You can choose the type that best suits your specific needs.

A manual platform trolley, also known as a manual hydraulic forklift, manual conveyor trolley, or "ground bull," is lightweight and highly maneuverable, featuring a small turning radius and easy operation. It’s ideal for short-distance transportation of lightweight materials and is therefore widely used in factories, cafeterias, supermarkets, offices, warehouses, and other similar settings. The caster wheels of the conveyor trolley are crucial components, primarily serving to change direction and lock the trolley in place. Beyond simply facilitating movement, these caster wheels enable the trolley to move in any direction, thereby significantly enhancing operational efficiency.
